Beaches:
You will be spoilt for choice with endless days of summer sunshine, and beaches and bays – some quiet and unspoilt; others bustling with activities but all with crystal clear water – Protaras is an unbeatable holiday destination with 6 Blue Flag Beaches in 2026. The Protaras Area of Cyprus has ranked first in Europe for the ratio of beaches that received the “Blue Flag". Here, are some of the top beaches to head for, not arranged in any particular order:
Vizakia Beach: - Vizakia Beach is accessed from the road at the side of the Cavo Maris hotel and is to your left. Vizakia Beach provides a serene and tranquil escape with clear waters and an area for real swimmers to exercise off of the rocks. It can get busy at the weekend in the height of summer. There is a neolithic settlement by the beach and within 5 minutes walk there are two beach bars (jetty in the picture opposite and kafenion) both serving snacks there is a traditional taverna Akroyiali. To the right of the Kafenion by the jetty there are watersports.
Fig tree bay: - This is Protaras most popular beach. Prepare to be wowed by its 500 metres of sand. It has crystal-clear shallow waters, a small offshore island, and golden sand. There are water sports available on either side of the bay, and its named after a single fig tree in the centre of the bay from the 17th century. Tucked behind the beach and the promenade walk are a range of bars, cafe and restaurants. If you don't want to get sandy swim from the steps to the far right where the Nausica hotel is.
Agia Triada - also known as Trinity Beach, is a scenic family-friendly sandy cove located about a 10 minute drive from the house. It features golden-to-pinkish sand, shallow turquoise waters, a small fishing shelter, and the landmark Ayia Triada chapel. There is a beach bar at the back of the beach and there is a ramp chair into the sea for anyone with any disability.
Konnos beach - This is a very scenic blue flag sandy bay just inside the Cape Greco national park known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, pine-fringed cliffs, and excellent water sports. Access and parking is via an exit just past the Grecian Park Hotel. There is a beautiful kiosk in the pine tress overlooking the bay serving drinks and snacks.
Vryssi beach - Also known as Sunrise beach for obvious reasons is a long stretch of fine white sand and clear turquoise water. Its the longest beach in the area and well organised. it sits along the main resort strip. Behind the beach is the promenade walkway and then there are the hotels, beach bars etc. There are water sports at either end of the bay. To the left hand side of the bay is a long jetty with various themed boats for excursions along the coast.
Malama beach - Malama beach is in the Kapparis area and is a 12 minute drive from the house. This is also known as the Mermaid breach because of the bronze mermaid on the rocks. Good for snorkeling
Kapparis beach - This is also known as Fireman's beach. It is beautiful, shallow clear seas but can be crowded. There are no watersports here. On top of the cliff above the beach is Kohili, which does a nice brunch with stunning views.

- Kalamies Beach - A family friendly spot in the Pernera area (10mins drive) famous for its crystal-clear shallow waters, golden sand, and the iconic blue-and-white Agios Nikolaos Chapel
- Lombardi Beach - Also known as Cavo Maris Beach is fully organized with lifeguards, sun beds, umbrellas, toilets, and access for the disabled. It also has a net for beach volley (behind the beach), as well as a water sports center, and a kiosk offering refreshments and food snacks. Lombardi beach is a favorite destination for families
- Pernera Beach - A large family friendly sandy cove which is good for swimming
